Senior Year - Decisions

August

Prepare for your best year ever!

September

Narrow your college choices to the top 3 or 4 in which you are most interested. Research and find college application and financial aid deadlines. Download applications and letter of recommendation forms. Give to appropriate teachers. Register for SAT online at www.collegeboard.com and ACT at www.act.org if you plan on retaking either of these exams.

October

Take SAT or ACT. Work on college application essays. If you are asking for early decision, complete application.

November

Finish college applications and send or fax. Make sure all recommendations have been sent.

December

Have your parents begin working on their taxes so they will be ready to go online and fill out the FAFSA (Federal Aid for Students Application). The website is www.fafsa.ed.gov/index.htm

January

Complete and submit FAFSA as soon after January 1 as possible. Federal grant funding is limited!

February

Make sure Mrs. McGuire has sent mid-year transcripts if the colleges you have applied to require this.

March

Watch for financial aid application deadlines. KEEP UP YOUR STUDIES! YOU NEED TO MAKE A STRONG FINISH!

April

Review financial aid award. Decide which college to attend, if you have not already. These awards describe the amount of financial assistance you could receive, usually a combination of grants and scholarships, work study, and student loans. Inform the college of your choice of your decision. Pay required deposits for enrollment and/or residence hall. HAVE A GREAT TIME ON YOUR SENIOR TRIP!

May

Attend Senior Banquet. PREPARE TO GRADUATE! Make sure Mrs. McGuire knows your college choice. Final transcripts will be sent as soon as school is out.

June

Attend orientation program or early registration when offered.
