Honors Choir

Every school has its rock stars, its divas, and its Pavarottis, but it is very difficult to plan and organize events that platform each of these diverse talents. Now, perhaps this eclectic variety of tastes and styles can join together with a single goal - that of becoming better musicians. Becoming a good vocalist takes skill, practice, and most of all, training. So how do students get this special training?

The Association of Christian Schools International has started an Honors Choir program that trains young budding musicians, to help them reach their potential. Each year, a different school hosts this elite choir, choosing historical places to perform and inviting an accomplished and well trained choir director to instruct and direct the choir. Different ACSI schools from around the world choose their best vocalists to travel to the host school to participate in perhaps the most challenging, the most stretching, and the most musically stimulating event in their high school experience.

Four short days are spent in long rehearsals polishing the selected sacred music, bonding with other MK students, and enjoying new cultural experiences. All of this excitement and preparation builds up to the big concert on the last day. Here, their hard work and vocal skills are displayed in a concert that is free to the public. Here, it becomes more than a training experience - it is a testimony to our Christian faith to these people in a different culture, in a different city.
